In one of my online theology classes this question was posed –

What would mysticism as described by Placher in relation to Meister Eckhart say to the church today?

My response is below, how would you respond, let me know if you agree is disagree.

I would have the word spoken be to that of Mainline Protestantism to be careful of what we assert to be God’s will in respect to the social issues. Too often those representing various denominations portray God’s will with being aligned with their own; aligned with their social causes whether liberal or conservative. For example, to say God approves or disapproves of homosexual marriage is to claim knowledge of the feelings, character and nature of God.
