breatheBreathing Universe

Think of the entirety of existence as far as we understand it as a lung.  The “big bang” is the beginning of the breath, the drawing in.  The universe expands for what seems like an eternity to us, and is filled with the “air” of energy.  And then, trillions of human years from now it will contract, exhaling and collapsing.  Blowing all the energy out, perhaps into a larger plane of existence just as we exhale carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, until it is empty.  Then, once again respiring in endless Divine cycle.  This is the breathing of the meditation of the One.
