three years
in the pacific northwest
is long enough
to have the heat in Texas
be too much
upon returning
I haven’t acclimated and
all I can seem to do
is lie around all day with
my white noise blowing or
sit in a dark cool bar
drinking but there’s very
little money right now
the job market no better
than it was there but
I’m looking and doing
little remodeling gigs
here and there but
the most important survival
technique is to drink
plenty of water
yet motivation still runs dry
in this scorching weather
I’ll be singing my praises
to the gods come October
I can always put on more clothes
when I get too cold but
when I’m hot
naked is as far as I can go
to be comfortable
that’s not very close
in Texas during summer
