On the outside of Washington DC’s Kennedy Center is a swirl of blue, green, and purple. The colors shift, and the movement is so slight that you have to stand there for a while to believe it is happening. But in an area of stale government buildings, it is quite captivating. As part of the Center’s festival on arts in the Nordic region- Nordic Cool 2013– Danish lighting designer Jesper Kongshaug tried to simulate the Northern Lights on the outside of the Kennedy Center with the light based work Northern Lights.
