    Ahh – such a great song. Music from a simpler time, a blast from a past world when people actually connected face to face 🙂

    Time to Ponder Protest Songs

      Good post. I agree that Twitter will not touch the soul like a song. But I am not as convinced that the music of that era had a more lasting effect. Yes, it did become a rallying point for protest. But the same generation that produced that music and still looks back on it fondly went on to become the generation now in control against which the OWS movement struggled/struggles.

      The music is still there as a reminder of what that generation could have become if it had continued in that direction. In a way, tweets that fall off and go nowhere speak more to the impermanence of sustained protest against a system that ultimately coopts any who cooperate with it.
