My MEMO Status update on FB: Some caricature metaphysics as the most meaningless of abstractions: e.g. pondering how many angels can dance on the head of a pin. Such examples work precisely to say that the “beyond” trumps the now/here for a metaphysician.

But really, the true offense arises from how theoretical explorations and questions can get in the way of seizing opportunity.

Is metaphysical thinking derided by many because such inquiry make us stop and ponder before going forward? In seeking the possible First (ARKHE), surely such *theoria* diverts the energy for proactionary development.

Insofar as it becomes a means of administering knowledge for achievement, technoscience obliviates metaphysics precisely because the will-to-progress lacks the ability to stop and look backward. Much the same can be said of the convenience of market driven Christianity which has become grafted onto the vine of techo-economic progress.

One of the first quotes that really stuck with me was “There is no truth. There is only perception.” And with that we need our “theoretical explorations and questions” in order to “seize opportunities”. Things, thoughts and systems that prevent one (contemplation) from the other (opportunity) is what strangles individuals and society. Nice post 🙂

Yes, agreed. For me, the contemplative and the active are mutually dependent. _/|\_
