We are exhausted by capitalism. The problem: how do I make a living without others taking advantage of me or without me taking advantage of others? This is a serious question and one that must be wrestled with at every age.
A solution that makes any investment of self morally worthwhile is when a business venture or a personal service meets real needs and minimizes if not negates the manipulation of other human beings merely for the sake of profit.
In the Society of Control, this all might seem quite impossible. But a great deal of thought and energy is being given to the problem every day… The radical solution is the absolution that comes from doing what is right rather than what is expedient, from choosing the dignity of life as an end in itself rather than as a mere means to capitalist status.
