Public infrastructure, private investment

#Infrastructure is a new buzzword… should NOT be a buzzword as it is absolutely crucial to the life of any civilization. But it is the buzzword because the president-elect promises to go heavy and hard on upkeep/new projects. Of course, what will come of all this will be further neoliberal privatization of infrastructure. That is the kind of thing from which folks like the Trump Organization and its partners can make #yuge profits. Do not expect a lot of local jobs to be created. And don’t be surprised if bridges and highways tend toward the toll-road model.

President-elect Trump’s plan to invest about $550 billion in new infrastructure projects across the country was a central theme in his campaign. “We’re going to rebuild our infrastructure, which will become, by the way, second to none. And we will put millions of our people to work as we rebuild it,” Trump said. Details are still murky, but it appears that the plan will rely on tax credits to spur private investment.
